The Oilfields Recycling Centre serves the residents and businesses of Turner Valley, Black Diamond and area.
Hours of Operation:
Tuesday and Thursday - 11:30 am to 8:00 pm
Wednesday and Friday - 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
Saturdays - 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
CLOSED SUNDAY MONDAY AND SATURDAYS OF STATUTORY HOLIDAYS
Note: After hours there is no public access to bins. Staff will be on hand on the days the facility is open.

Listed below are some examples of the various types of plastic. A number is stamped on the bottom of most containers to indicate category.
- PETE: Example: clear dishwashing liquid bottles, clear salad dressing bottles, clear peanut butter containers
- HDPE: Example: vinegar containers, windshield washer containers, bleach bottles, fabric softener, liquid laundry detergent
- PVC: Example: All other shampoo bottles
- LDPE: Example: Bread bags, grocery bags, produce packaging
- PP: Example: butter containers, plastic cutlery, yogurt and margarine containers, caps and closures for bottles
- PS: Example: ketchup bottles and all plastics marked 6 or 7

On October 22, 2008 Diana McQueen, Parliamentary Assistant to Hon. Rob Renner, Minister of Environment, announced that effective June 1, 2009 all milk containers will become part of the deposit/refund system mandated in the Beverage Container Recycling Regulation. In essence, the voluntary program to recycle milk containers will effectively cease to exist on that date.
The Recycling Centre also has a used clothing collection bin sponsored by the Alberta Diabetes Association and Cerebral Palsy.
Household toxic items, such as empty paint cans and pesticide Containers (triple rinsed), may be taken directly to the Foothills Regional Landfill Site throughout the year.

Check out the Salvage Centre at the Foothills Regional Landfill for the disposal of used items that may by recycled for use by someone else. Hours of operation are the same as the Foothills Regional Landfill as list above.

Note that materials that fall into Class 1 (Explosives) and into Class VII (Radioactive Materials) cannot be accepted. The following items are not accepted but can be taken to the Foothills Regional Landfill Site: batteries, empty containers and propane tanks. Please note that the building is kept locked for safety reasons and is filled throughout the day by Town Staff. Two pallets are provided for the temporary placement of materials.
Turner Valley/Black Diamond & MD Residents can deposit clean loads of grass, leaves and branches at the transfer station.

- Envelopes, blue prints, photocopy paper wrapper

- File folders (no plastic or metal)

5. Household Metal
- Tin cans (rinsed, labels off)

7. Plastics - # 1 - #7 now accepted, remove cap, clean and crush

To aid in the efficiency of the recycling process, products should be sorted, flattened and clean.
Leaf and Yard Waste Collection Site
The Towns of Turner Valley and Black Diamond have joined together to operate a composting area. It is located at the transfer site outside of Black Diamond on the west side along the river road and will be open from first Monday in May to the last Tuesday in October. All leaves, grasses and tree cuttings can be taken to this location.
2007 dates of operation: April 15 - November 15, 2007
The days of operation are: Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 P.M.
Composters and Recycling Bins For Sale
Composters are available for sale at $ 40.00 each and the recycling bins will be coming soon. Please pay for either of these items at the Town Office and then take your proof of payment to the Recycling Depot for pickup.
