Family & Community Support Services (FCSS)

Program Overview

           Function:

Turner Valley Family and Community Services (FCSS) assists local non-profit organizations through funding and program support. The FCSS supports the delivery of social programs that are preventive in nature in order to promote and enhance well being for individuals, families and communities. In Turner Valley, a Council-appointed board is responsible for setting program policy and reviewing applications for funding.

It receives 80% of its funds from the province of Alberta through Alberta Children’s Services.

FCSS often uses volunteers in its management and delivery. Turner Valley FCSS is supportive of community-based, locally driven initiatives which meet the vision and mandate of the program.  FCSS philosophy is based on a belief that self help contributes to a sense of integrity, self-worth and independence.

Programs are intended to help individuals adopt healthy lifestyles, thereby improving the quality of life and building on the ability to prevent and deal with crisis situations should they arise.
